The one thing I had not really thought about with starting a new job was the learning curve to get up to speed with my peers. After spending 4 years on my previous program, I had grown pretty comfortable with the software and how it worked. But today it was June 2004 all over again, and I was the newest new guy on the program. All around me people were doing real actual work (or at least doing a good job of pretending) and there I was staring at manuals and printouts, trying to figure out what the hell we're doing here. By 2:00pm I had had enough, mostly because the jet lag had caught up with me and I was doing touch and gos.
All together, it was a pretty boring day, except this morning when I nearly got booted off the bus for not having correct change and some local man paid the fare for me. Luckily that wasn't embarrassing nor drew unwanted attention to me.
